Rather than maintaining two products, the mobile app is packaged from the same application, which means a fix lands in both at once and there is only one set of business rules to keep correct.
This suits internal tools especially well: a sales rep collecting on a route, a cashier taking a payment, a driver confirming a delivery. The phone is the right device for the job, but the data and the rules belong to the same system the office uses.
Signed release builds and Play Store submission are part of the handover.
